CPI will propose mechanisms to enhance international collaboration in the fight against child abuse

The Special Investigative Committee (CPI) created to investigate child abuse on the Internet is going to propose mechanisms of international collaboration to prevent this sort of crime. The committee also intends to draw a map of child abuse in Brazil, said senator Demóstenes Torres (DEM-GO), rapporteur of the committee.
The committee approved, on Wednesday (26), the working schedule proposed by Demóstenes. The plan establishes three focal points: requesting information to authorities who are fighting against child abuse; and visiting states for inspections and further hearings.
According to Demóstenes, after finishing its investigations, the committee will present a bill establishing specific punishment to crimes involving child abuse.
- Child abuse should be treated with specific laws. With the advances in Internet, crime has prospered, and now we need to create mechanisms to fight these practices – explained the senator.
