Senator Jonas Pinheiro dies at 67

Senator Jonas Pinheiro (DEM-MT) died in Cuiaba (MT) last Tuesday (19), due to multiplan organ failure. A senator since 1995, he was known for his vast knowledge on agriculture. Jonas Pinheiro dedicated his mandate to defend the Brazilian investment in the rural side of the country.
He was born in Santo Antonio do Leverger (MT), on January 22, 1941. Being the son of a fisherman, he said the world of politics never crossed his mind. He had a degree in Veterinary Medicine, and was ellected federal deputy in 1982, staying in the Chamber of Deputies for 3 mandates. With earnestness and simplicity, Pinheiro used to say that defending the rural worker was his most important mission.
