Brazil may accept Bolivian property for debt payment

The Committee on Economic Affairs approved on Tuesday (18) a favorable report to a presidential message (267/05) that allows the Executive Power to accept a Bolivian government property as part of this country’s debt payment to the Brazilian government. The property is located in Multicentro building, in La Paz, and it is evaluated in US$ 2.09 million.
The rapporteur of the message, senator Jonas Pinheiro (DEM-MT), explained that the decision follows Brazilian policy of recovering the credits of national assets from foreign nations, with the Club of Paris support. According to the senator, it is a great opportunity to countries, following Bolivian example, to regularize their respective debts with Brazil.
The presidential message proceeds to Plenary for analysis.
