President proposes "dialogue and understanding" to party leaders

The president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), released a press note on Wednesday (12) in which he invites party leaders to a dialogue about the resuming of works in the Senate. Renan affirmed that he does not keep "sorrow nor resentment" because of the process proposing the loss of his mandate.
"The result of the voting today is a victory of democracy, but it is also a moment to reflect about the losses that this political process provoked", Renan said in the document. Although he has mentioned "some injustices and inherent excesses to democratic process", the Senate president defended the invigoration of institutions. For him, "this process closes up with the affirmation of mutual respect and serenity that always characterized the political coexistence in this House."
"I will know how to correspond to the institution desires and to approximate it more and more to Brazilian society", Renan promised. The note was released at about 19:00. The president left the House just after voting of Ethics Council recommendation that proposed the loss of his mandate. At first, he would pray at Church São Judas Tadeu, where he was waited for the mass of 18:30, but he decided to meet his family. Renan prohibited commemorations for his absolution.
