Doctors graduated in Cuba try to validate their diplomas in Brazil

The first vice-president of the Senate, Tião Viana, received Brazilian doctors graduated in Cuba and Brazilian students of Medicine

The first vice-president of the Senate, Tião Viana, received on Tuesday (21) Brazilian doctors graduated in Cuba and Brazilian students of Medicine in that country, who try to validate their diplomas in Brazil. The two countries negotiate an agreement to validate such diplomas, but those doctors allege that Medicine Regional Councils still resist to allow them to submit to medical residence, that is, to the specialization demanded by law.

When receiving them, senator Tião Viana said he was solidary with the cause, that he considers fair. He gave ideas so that those recently-graduated might speed up the legalization of their situation, suggesting that, if in 90 days there is no official answer to their request, they should make a daily pilgrimage to the Ministry of Education.

In the opportunity, Tião Viana announced that he is the author of the Bill 217/04, that institutes the National Exam of Proficiency in Medicine, which would be a requirement for the legal exercise of the profession in the country.
