CCJ approves fund against violence

The Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) accepted, on Wednesday (14), the proposal for an amendment to the Constitution, made by senator Antonio Carlos Magalhães (PFL-BA), which creates the Fund for the Combat of Violence and Support to Crime Victims. Senator Demóstenes Torres (PFL-GO) was the bill’s rapporteur. The project, that was unanimously approved, with an abstention by senator Jefferson Péres (PDT-AM), is to be voted in the Plenary.
The proposal aims to create a fund for fighting violence and aiding crime victims and will take effect until 2020, in Executive Power’s sphere and ruled by a supplementary law. The proposal adds four articles to the Act of Transitory Constitutional Provisions and establishes the creation of a Consulting Council in which representatives from civil society will take part.
