Congress approves Union Budget for 2007
The National Congress approved the substitutive text for the bill of the Union Budget for 2007. The text that now goes to the president sanction forecasts investments of about 76.7 billion for 2007, from which more than 27 billion from governmental investments, besides 49.7 billion from the budget of state-owned companies.
Senate authorizes donation of up to R$ 20 million to Paraguay
The Senate approved the Chamber of Deputies' bill which allows the Brazilian government to donate up to R$ 20 million to Paraguay (PLC 121/06). According to senator Sérgio Zambiasi (PTB-RS), the bill rapporteur in the Committee on External Relations and National Defense (CRE), the money will be used on the implementation of the Structural Convergence Fund of Mercosul (Focem), which is in its last phase of institutionalization.
